A Note From Jemi Brown:

Capital Campaign Co-Chair and Remerge Graduate

My family lived so far away, and ReMerge kind of filled that space. It played such a major role in my life for so long. It’s where I went when I needed support, or a sounding board; it was my community. Waking up the day after I graduated, the reality of everything hit me, and I didn’t really know what to do, so I just showed up at ReMerge like I had every day prior. I hope the new Graduate Center is a place where graduates can come and build a community with each other, the keeps graduates together, giving back. I hope they discover ways to pour into each other, and into future graduates of ReMerge, too. I don’t think we fully realize the power our personal stories have. ReMerge is a safe space to land when life gets hard, or we need extra support, and by continuing a relationship with ReMerge after graduation, I have gained so much more than I have imagined. I know I’m not the only one who feels that way.

Graduation isn’t an ending, it’s an entry to the next stage of life where we get to choose our community and how we spend time together, socializing and sharing through Chat and Chills, Galantine’s, birthday parties for our kids, Friendsgiving, reunions, and mentoring opportunities. We get as much as we give — so let’s keep giving. The work ReMerge does is powerful, transformative, and life-affirming for so many women in our community. With 200+ graduates, it’s time for a true home base where we can return, reunite, and stay engaged. Together, we’ll celebrate our wins, learn from our struggles, help each other, and mentor those who will join us as graduates someday.
